This week kicks off the first big weekend of the club season. As the MLU season is over for many players and the two remaining teams, the Portland Stags and Philadelphia Spinners, in a hiatus until the MLU Championship on July 16th, many will be in action this weekend. Starting it off is the U.S. Open, this year hosted in Kingston, Rhode Island as the first event of the Triple Crown Tour. This year the top eight teams who placed at 2015 Nationals were invited to compete along with some select international teams. If any team were to not accept the invite (D.C. Truck Stop) then Elite Flight teams (9-16th at Nationals) filled their space followed by the Select Flight.
This U.S. Open, the MLU will have 53 players participating on three out of the 12 men's teams and five of the 12 mixed teams. The Spinners have the most representatives with 18 attending this tournament followed by the Boston Whitecaps with 17. The only teams without a player competing are the Stags and Vancouver Nighthawks.
Certain pool play games (Friday-Saturday) will be broadcasted on Ultiworld and are noted bellow. All semi-final games (Sunday) will be either on Ultiworld or on ESPN3 with each championship game (Monday) on ESPN3. Full event info can be seen here.
